This is the battle of Ahvaz which took place in 1982.

Essentially the Iranians were counter attacking at the same time the counter attacked against Khorramshahr only here they lost.

The main bulk of my information comes from the book The Iran-Iraq War, but there is no map and so I have had to guess where the front line was but the image on te Nekromantix site indicates that the frontline was to the West of Ahvaz and indicates that the northern line followed the river and the southern line followed the road and so I dont think my focus is too far off, but it is still guess work.

I have included the Iraqi defensive positions but not the Iranian ones for two reasons, first, I dont know exactly where they were and secondly, its not relevent as its the Iranians attacking the Iraqis and so thier position is not so relevent.

The battle starts on 30 April 1982. The Iraqis have the 5th mechanised division defending with 5 brigades and some supporting units. They are then assaulted by human waves of Pasdaran troops. They continued the attackes until 3 May 1982 but suffered large losses, something like 10000 Iranians for 500 Iraqis.
