Battle of Fallujah - 2013 (Iraq Civil War).

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and other insurgents take Fallujah from the Iraqi Army.

This marks the start of the Iraq Civil War. The Iraq Army moved to take down a Sunni protest camp. Once they did that, Al-Qaeda insurgents rose up and attacked the city. Much of the army ran off and the insurgents attacked the police and the police stations.

Al-Qaeda also releases 100 prisoners.

Sunni Tribesmen then moved to prevent later Iraq Army units from approaching the city.

Free Iraqi Army units were also involved.
