On 23 January 1949 the Greek National Army used LOK commando units to drive them out.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  At the time the Greek National Army was supported with over 50 new Curtiss SB2C Helldiver aircraft supplied by the United States.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Over 120 Democratic Army fighters were killed and 60 taken prisoner.
