RUF advance on Hastings Airport and sieze it on Friday 6 June 1997.
Nigeria had been using the airport to fly in troops and supplies for its nearby military base.
The capture left the Nigerians reliant of the more distant Lungi International Airport.
Not certain what the status of the frontlines was or who held Freetown at the time, but assuming that Sierra Leone forces held Freetown and that the RUF are advancing from the east.
