1992 Capture Of Susha.
Its an interesting battle for a number of reasons.
First, the terrain is very specific, as Susha was in the mountains and the Southern and South-Eastern flanks were shear cliffs, and presumably unassailable.
Secondly, the Armenians took Susha without superior numbers. The Wikipedia article states that the Azeri had superior numbers, equipment, terrain and quality. Whilst this is interesting in its own right, its difficult to model as a game. To reflect this I have given all the Armenin a factor of 2 for attack. This essentially doubles their power which might seem unfair, but I cant really see how they could even stand any chance in a game otherwise. they still have the same number of units, I have given them 10 comanies which represent two companies for each company they had. This is minly to allow the forces to seperate.
As it stands, it a total draft. I dont really know what direction they came from or what other forces they had. They had a smll number of tanks and so the Armenins have 2 tank companies which is a bit oversize but I think they represent split company.
I think I will need to develop some kind of impassable terrain feature to reflect the fact that certain hexes could not be crossed, ie the South and East flanks. Plus, I think I need something to reflect a an urban terrain hex in the mountain. Currently its only mountain or urban (light/dense). I also want to break up the terrain to make it ll lokk a bit more interesting.
I think there are other units to put on including artillery, helicopters, mybe aircraft etc etc. As said, this is currently a rough draft.
