2016
This is a bit of a cheat as its a copy of the earlier Deir al-Zour game.
In this scenario ISIS try to take the airport but fail.
This intrigues me as i cant quite place how this fits in with the earlier fighting where ISIS appeared to take hold of some of the Northern parts of the town. are they still there? Ara News does indocate that ISIS are in the city and one of their tax collectors, Abu Saleh al-Jazrawi, was murdered after which ISIS went round trying to find out who did it. as such i will put some ISIS units in the town but assume they are just holding their positions.
Im also assuming that Ayyash and Al Bogeleyyah are also under ISIS control.
Also, the action is a bit compromised as the airport is to the South and not central to the map, but as I said, I was cheating a bit. However, I think its fair enouh to copy maps over as time passes.
The set up is for the two units in the center to prevent any of the Syrian units coming out to defend the airport as they are too small, and also to skirmish around Deir al-Zour. The Southern units should attack the airport.
I dont think they will win which is in keeping with the reports.
The SouthFront video indicates that ISIS have their stonghold to the North East of Deir al-Zour so im not sure why they are approaching from the West, but I imagine they crossed the river elsewhere.
Almanar reports of several ISIS rockets landing in Deir al-Zour.
I think this is what you might call an asymetric game where ISIS are trying to take the airport whilst the Syrian units are trying to defend but also take back Deir al-Zour if ISIS leave it. All town units are entrenched.
