This is a 1970 snap shot of the war of indepenence. Not much really happened strategically such as major offensives as such, it appears to be more of an insurgent type war. However, I think itmight work well as simulation to some extent as I think all units will be company leveland there will be a lot of objectives meaning that consolidating units will result in objectives being exposed etc with not enough units to cover everything. However, I have not done the units yet, still struggling with the map.
Its interesting to note that this was a war by the PAIGC against Portugal, the colonialist, but the PAIGC were supported by no less than China, Cuba, Soviet Union, Senegal, Guinea, Libya and Algeria.
The PAIGC took refuge and built up theirforces in Guinea.
If I have time I actually want to add Operation Green Sea to the site but I felt I needed to add this first as essential background, but Operation Green Sea was essentially a raid against Conakry, a PAIGC safe haven in Guinea. They took Guinea rebels and attempted a coup but the leader but he was not there at the time.
