Ivory Coastsoldiers mutiny over pay. They had mutinied in January 2017 as well and came to angreement over pay but it appears that the agreement was not honoured and so they mutinied again in May 2017.
The mutiny started on Friday 12 May in Abidjan and Bouake and spread to other cities. Protesters came out to protest the mutiny and the army deployed to put the mutiny down but held back whilst discussions were carried out.
The mutiny ended on 16 May when the soldiers made another deal.
During the four day mutiny there was sprodic gunfire and several people died.
The French deployed military units to protect the business interests of the French firm Bollore.
