The first thing to consider here is that this is near to Damascus which you can see in the southwest corner. if you didnt already know, Damascus is the capital of Syria. The fact that rebel units are so close and have been for so long is a bit strange really. However, a key point of note is the presence of the Republican Gaurd. They are the only military units allowed into the city. You will see quite a large division there, unfortunatly you cant use it. The 124th, 105th, 104th, 103rd and 106th must stay in Damascus. I was going to give them 0 movement meaning they couldnot move out even if you wanted them, however, I have left them as normal just in ase you want to see how they fare in the battle or, maybe more importantly, in case ISIS win in East Ghouta and advance on Damascus, it will help if you an use them.
I think if Damascus falls the game is over.
The main strike forces are to the east. There are also unspecified strike forces to the north and south.
The activity across this region has been ongoing since 2011 with the bloodiest clashes in March-August 2013.
This is a unit heavy game, mainly as I have copied the PetoLucem map which generally sprinkles little flags all over the place that probably dont resemble much more than the map creators intention to represent ancirling and enircled forces. To expand on that I have added a fair amount of ISIS motorised units that are acting as a reserve to quickly respond to Syrian Army advances. There is also a fair amount of air defence.
Dont think I have missed anything out but I really dont think this will be a 15 minute game. Will be interesting to see how balanced, in its basic stateit plays outs.
A relativly new feature included in this scenarion is the highway which you can see in red to the northwest.
You will also note the presence of Palastine Liberation Army units who are the military wing of the PLO and are generally host by a Middle Eastern nation, in most cases Syria. Clearly their main perpose is to defeat Isreal. You will also see Hezbollah units who are equally aligned against Isreal, so there are a lot of interesting entities at large in this scenario.
I have assumed that the Russians will be providing some air support but I have not read that anywhere.
