Chechnya-based Islamic International Brigade incade Dagestan. they thought that the locals would rise up and support them but instead they formed militias and fought them.

After taking all the villages marked the Islamic forces declared an independent Islamic State of Dagestan.

The Russian forces were very slow to respond.

The war took about a month.

Russian forces used air mobile units to cut passes.

It was the first time Rusia used fuel-air explosives and the T-90 tank.

Russia used this invasion as a casus belli for the Second Chechen War.
